What do you do when you get invited for a Marie-Stella-Maris treatment in Amsterdam? You say yes, without any questions asked, right? YES!
So I did and of course I wanted to share my experience with this amazing brand, inside and out!
The flagship store is based in the heart of Amsterdam, in the hip and trendy 9 straatjes. When you're in Amsterdam, don't forget to walk these streets, shop for original must-haves, have lunch in one of the cosy cafés (check out hotspot PLUK) and step into the world of Marie-Stella-Maris...
The world of Marie-Stella-Maris
Upstairs, the white walls, the clean design, the relaxing French music and the mission statement on the wall create a world of pureness. The simple design of the care products gives away the high quality and the natural character of the products and I couldn't wait to try them all!
But first: coffee! We went downstairs, where the low ceiling, the green tiled floor and the strategically placed decoration continued the experience. Together with the lovely ladies of Marie-Stella-Maris, I had a cup of coffee (and a sip of water) as if I was sitting on a trendy French terrace. La vie est belle!
The Story
Marie-Stella-Maris is what you call a social company. It was founded in 2011 as a brand in bottled water, to contribute to everybody's right to have access to clean drinking water. From every liter sold by Marie-Stella-Maris, 5 euro cents is being donated to water projects; 7 in Africa and 1 in Bangladesh. Being involved in these projects, quickly showed the strong connection between clean drinking and hygiene, which was the inspiration for the Marie-Stella-Maris care product line. From every care product sold, 1 euro goes to the supported projects.

I got to see, feel, touch and try every product and it was a bliss! Marie-Stella-Maris offers body- skin- and hair care, as well as a home assortment, including scented candles and room- and linen spays. Each product is great in it's simplicity: free from parabens and silicones, as natural as possible and mostly based on essential almond- or coconut oil. They're suited for all skin types, even the most sensitive ones. Therefore, the range of products doesn't need to be endless. There's, for example, only one facial cream, suited for all skin types. This cream can be supplemented with different dry facial oils, depending on the skin's extra needs. Brilliant right?
The natural scent of the products reminded me of a vacation in France, which is not so strange with names like Poivre noir fraîche, Lemon notes or Thym Aromatique. The first impression when washing, scrubbing and rubbing the products was great! The creams are rich, but not sticky and the scents are lovely. I left the store with the softest hands and the most kissable lips :)
Needless to say I'm very enthusiastic about the entire concept Marie-Stella-Maris brings to the table. By caring for yourself, you're giving back to the world and you're caring for others too. As we speak I'm extensively trying out many of the Marie-Stella-Maris care products: it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it! ;-) I can't wait to share my experience with you, including the insiders' tips I received from the Marie-Stella-Maris beauty advisor...
What about not washing out your hair conditioner, when you have curly hair??!!
